A withholding statement is a document given by a QI to its custodian that provides information regarding the applicable withholding rates for U.S source income paid to the QI. The withholding statement usually is provided together with a Form W-8IMY and can be a written document or provided electronically. The format of the withholding statement and the information it is required to contain is described in Section 6.02 of the QI Agreement.
